1D1F Initiative: Could Ghana's NPP Have Done More? | Kofi Ofosu-Nkansah Interview (2026)

The former CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu-Nkansah, has revealed a thought-provoking perspective on the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative. In a recent interview, he shared his insights on the program's impact and the potential for improvement.

According to Ofosu-Nkansah, while the NPP government's 1D1F initiative has been a significant step forward, there's room for further growth. He believes that with increased investment and support, the program could have achieved even more remarkable results in industrialization and job creation.

Speaking on Kasapa FM on November 19, 2025, he emphasized the importance of resources in expanding job opportunities for the youth. Despite the impressive 170 factories operational under the 1D1F policy, he suggested that additional resources could have led to even greater success.

"Although we've made significant progress, I believe we could have done better," he stated. "The NPP government's efforts in opening and supporting these factories are commendable, but with more investment, we could have created even more job opportunities for Ghanaians."

Ofosu-Nkansah highlighted the substantial progress made in industrialization and employment creation, noting that the government opened several new factories and assisted existing ones to diversify and employ more people. He proudly mentioned that 144 factories were operational in Accra and Kumasi alone, showcasing the program's impact.

Despite his constructive criticism, Ofosu-Nkansah acknowledges the Akufo-Addo administration's achievements in job creation, positioning it as one of the most impactful governments in this regard. His insights offer a balanced perspective, encouraging further discussion and improvement in the 1D1F initiative.
