However, a breakthrough occurred on Friday when Littleproud offered a compromise, suggesting a six-week suspension for all Nationals before they rejoin the frontbench in March. This proposal was met with resistance from Ley's allies and moderate Liberals, but pressure from right-faction leaders and other influential figures within the parties ultimately led to a potential agreement.
Despite some challenges, the deal is expected to be announced as early as Sunday, provided no last-minute demands derail the process.
