Former NRL Star Faces Serious Charges After Alcohol-Related Crash
The former NRL star Curtis Scott is set to fight allegations of driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a crash in Sydney's south. The incident occurred on June 15, 2024, when Scott, a former Melbourne Storm and Canberra Raiders player, crashed his ute into several trees on Kennedy Crescent, Bonnet Bay.
According to police, the 28-year-old was driving while over the legal alcohol limit, which is 0.05 in Australia. Scott allegedly left the scene and was later arrested at his nearby home and taken to Sutherland Hospital. Six months later, in December, he was issued with Court Attendance Notices.
At the Sutherland Local Court hearing on Thursday, Scott's solicitor, Robert Candelori, entered not guilty pleas on his behalf. Scott has been charged with driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, driving with a mid-range PCA (0.08-0.15), and negligent driving (without causing death or grievous bodily harm).
The police statement revealed that Scott was driving with a mid-range PCA, which is a serious offense. This incident has led to the suspension of his driving license. Scott's career shift from rugby league to combat sports, including boxing, has not prevented him from facing legal consequences.
